#Super monkey ball banana mania sonic series
A great deal for a Monkey Ball fan, but will it finally manage to bring the series into the mainstream spotlight? Probably not, or at least not on its own. You’ll be getting a huge amount of content here, all with the new HD lick of paint that we expect from re-releases and remasters. So it would seem that at the very least, Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania is good value for money.
Jokes aside, this package includes hundreds of levels, over 300 stages, and that doesn’t count the extra unlockable levels or bonus content either. Technically it probably does, but since Deluxe was just a re-release of the first two games with some extra levels added, you might as well say that this is just the remake of Super Monkey Ball Deluxe and have done with it. You may hear claims that it brings the third console release as well, Super Monkey Ball Deluxe. Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania brings together all of the levels and features from the first two console releases in the franchise, Super Monkey Ball and Super Monkey Ball 2. Now with Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania, the levels of the first two GameCube titles are brought back with extras, nicer graphics, and more modern controls to see if they live up to modern standards. The series is mostly a mainstay of Japanese arcades, but in the west has gathered a quite intense niche audience, but never really broke into what you’d call mainstream success. It’s sort of been a similar case with Monkey Ball. That’s why no one will listen to me when I preach the gospel of Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg anymore. I would but I’m allergic to bananas.Sometimes, a series will stay really niche even if it deserves to be more popular. How about you? Has the hog won you over, or are you more drawn in by the Concept of Love? Maybe go have some potassium and think it over. Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania is set to release this October on every major platform, and after seeing my favourite hedgehog and fox join the roster I’m definitely interested in trying out the banana collecting fun for the first time. Think we’ll see any other franchises make the jump? Yep, Beat from the cult Sega series Jet Set Radio, which is still beloved by its fans despite no new games since 2002! Movement-based gameplay and sick beats seem to be a common thread here, don’t they? Either way, it’s sure to get some graffiti and skating-starved fans intrigued at the very least. After all, Sonic and Tails weren’t even the first guests to be announced for Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania Beat was!
The developers seem to be pulling out all of the stops to mark the occasion with a game that pays great tribute to the series as a whole, not only by remastering the content of the first three games but also bringing in some fun new additions that should both excite fans of the Super Monkey Ball titles and hopefully even attract new fans by introducing guests that may encourage them to give the game a closer look, myself included. The fact that Sonic and Tails are no strangers to rolling around in balls certainly helps too.
While Sonic celebrates turning 30 this year, Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania is actually being made to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the Super Monkey Ball series, which plays perfectly into this frankly adorable crossover.
